Apply to be a Director/Officer by Dec 20
AltadenaWILD is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization advocating on behalf of our treasured Altadena foothills. In 2022, we launched a two year campaign to defeat plans to build a private school sports complex in a high fire hazard and environmentally sensitive area of the Altadena foothills. In October 2024, we celebrated the successful conclusion of this campaign with the news that the private school had withdrawn their plans. In 2025, we will work with larger partner organizations to develop a preservation strategy for the Altadena Foothills, including the original 78 acres on Chaney Trail. We will also continue a vigorous program of outreach and nature education celebrating the virtues of our local wildlands.
AltadenaWILD seeks applications to join our Board of Directors for two-year terms starting on February 1, 2025. We are looking to add up to four Directors by expanding the diversity of experience beyond the current seven-member Board. We welcome all interested adult applicants 18 years old and up, and we are particularly interested in applicants who will proactively participate in our efforts and bring one or more of the following skills/experiences to the Board:
Environment
Conservation
Wildlife
Teacher/educator
Social Media
Events Planning/Coordination
Fundraising & Grants
We also seek a new Secretary, one of the three corporate Officers for AltadenaWILD. The primary role of the Secretary is to record and archive the minutes of monthly Board meetings and associated resolutions. When applying for a Board position, you have the option of also applying for a one-year (renewable) appointment as AltadenaWILD Secretary.
Applications are due by Friday, December 20. Applications will be reviewed by current AW Officers/Directors and interviews will be conducted in early January 2025.
