Alejandro Lopez

October 2024

The powerful messages and videos that headline AltadenaWILD’s “Don’t Play with Nature” campaign were crafted and graciously donated by environmental artist and activist Alejandro Lopez, an Altadena resident and our Volunteer of the Month. “Don’t Play with Nature” has warned of the impacts and dangers of building a sports complex in a wildland-urban interface within a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone. Alejandro’s videos add visual power to a sobering topic. He also created images that highlight native animals that populate the area, which AltadenaWILD has used in products for educational events.

Being “One With Nature”, Alejandro loves and respects nature and treasures the opportunity to experience it at an existential level. He communicates his awe and connection through plein air paintings and expressive videos of his pilgrimage to natural places. You can see his moving work at aml-art.com.

AltadenaWILD is grateful for his artistic vision and presence in our community, and his passion to support our efforts to keep our Altadena foothills wild.
