The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the West San Gabriel Valley Area Plan (WSGVAP) on December 10, 2024.

Another outpouring of community sentiment through petition signatures, letters of support, and public comment speakers helped the Board of Supervisors know the extent of our support.

Donate Towards Our $100K Community Contribution Campaign

On Giving Tuesday 2024, we’re kicking off our campaign to raise $100,000 as a community contribution towards preservation.

AltadenaWILD is participating in initial discussions with conservation organizations, tribal groups, and outdoor education groups to define a low-impact preservation plan for 78 acres along Chaney Trail in Altadena.

Your donation will help make a “community contribution” that demonstrates local support to State agencies and philanthropic foundations and helps leverage grant funds.

The proposed West San Gabriel Valley Area Plan (WSGVAP) will discourage new developments in the Altadena foothills, contrary to the claims of opponents.  We need your help!

(1)   Write a letter to Supervisor Kathryn Barger by December 4.

(2)   Sign our online petition of support before December 9.

(3)   Make a public statement at the December 10 Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting, in person or virtually.

Two options available!

(1) 24/7 drop off available at local business Cush Light, outside 153 W. Altadena Drive in Altadena (next to vending machines). Signs will be taken to circular economy company Ridwell’s warehouse for recycling.

(2) Alternatively, Ridwell is offering a free, one-time yard sign pickup at your home on December 2.

We welcome all interested adult applicants 18 years old and up. Successful applicants will be proactive participants and bring skills in conserving the environment, education, event planning, social media, and/or fundraising/grant writing.
